Daniel J. McMahon

Daniel J. McMahon has been in the accounting and financial field for over 40 years. He began his career with the predecessor firm and after five years became the Controller for their largest client. The company was a large international manufacturing company which gave him great insights into cost accounting systems and procedures. He developed and wrote a standard cost system for the company which is still in place today. He left private industry and returned to public accounting, establishing his own firm. His clientele were small to medium sized businesses and a large number of high net worth individuals. The firm was involved in income tax planning and preparation along with serious estate planning. Over the years he negotiated the sale of three of his clients to publicly traded companies. One of the companies was sold through a charitable remainder trust and avoided all of the capital gains. He has been involved with numerous IRS audits along with several state agencies, almost all with very favorable results.

In reflecting on his many years in the financial arena, Dan attributes his success to his strong ability to help solve problems and simplify confusing issues.

At the beginning of 2014, Dan merged his practice into PKF O’Connor Davies. The industry has changed over 40 years and has become very complex—tax rules changing every day, along with accounting standards. Then, you add security of client data and the major changes in the healthcare industry it becomes very difficult to have an expertise in all areas that your clients want and need. It was like returning home after a long sabbatical traveling down many different roads.
